Svetlana Shtrom, Ph.D., MBA
Biography
Svetlana Shtrom, Ph.D., is currently directing the commercial development of technologies at UCF’s Office of Research. Svetlana has extensive experience in business development and technology management. She has broad expertise in collaborative partnership structuring, strategic planning, market assessment, technology evaluation, and intellectual property management.
Svetlana’s business development experience includes leadership roles in academia, government, and industry. Prior to joining UCF, she consulted for biotechnology companies and venture capital firms in business growth and technology evaluation. Also previously, she managed business development at several emerging biotechnology companies focused on development and manufacture of clinical diagnostics. Before working in biotechnology industry, she was a Technology Transfer Specialist at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) where she facilitated partnerships with industry, academia and non-profit organizations.
Svetlana holds an MBA from UCF. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health and received a Ph.D. in cell biology from the University of California at San Francisco and a B.S. in molecular genetics from the Ohio State University, where Svetlana received the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship. Svetlana serves on the Board of Directors of BioFlorida.
